Women's Health Care Associates

Finally!!!! The insurance company has gave me a place to go with a little bit of pushing and wanting a OB that can handle high risk pregnancy's i thought this would be the best place to go after doing some research into them. I was not to happy when i found out that they don't let you just have one doctor for your whole pregnancy but after meeting with them the first guy didn't seem so bad. Here is some info for you to get to know my clinic.

There are six OB doctors and two Midwifes. im going to show just the Two OB doctors that i have met so far so you can meet each with me. So far i really have liked the two i have met. Very friendly and answer questions no matter if they find them silly or not. =) The second OB i will show in the next post.

Dr. Timothy Edwards
Dr. Edwards graduated from Jacksonville High School
in 1970. He attended undergraduate school at UNC Chapel Hill and in 1978 graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. After graduating in 1978
from Wake Forest Dr. Edwards did his residency at Duke University. Upon completion he joined Women’s Healthcare Associates in Jacksonville, North Carolina as a General OBGYN. Dr. Edwards is board certified with the American Board of OBGYN. His career
accomplishments and awards include: 1985 Onslow Memorial Chief of Staff, 1994 President of Wake Forest  University School of Medicine
Medical Alumni Association. He resides in Jacksonville
with hiswife Susan and family.

I had my first apptment with Dr. Edwards and thought he was pretty funny and easy to feel comfortable with. I told him i was scared of having this baby at home by myself as i had my first child in two and a half hours from start to finish and that once i hit 5 cm its only mins until the baby is out. He told me that if it would make me feel better that i could pitch a tent on the property and then i would not have to worry about it if it would make me feel better about having a baby by myself. I thought this to be funny and a great comment as he seems to already know me. He also then joked about how since im from WI i wouldn't need a tent i could tough it out just on the yard. i told him that i could tough it out cause that's what us Wisconsin folks do.

With my son when it was almost time to have him i got scared and told my doctor at the time that if he didnt give me what i wanted i would make his life hell. he smiled asked me what it was that i would like and so i told him i wanted a C-section. LOL i wanted a Natural birth and no pain meds just some water and walking and the ball that was it i was scared to have c section, but i was more scared to have a baby by myself and not on a day my doctor was on call. =) so he said no cause he knew what i wanted and that i was just scared. I then told him that i would sit in his front yard and push this baby out in his yard if he didnt give me " a god damn c section!"  he smiled and said that he would but that i would change my mind again as time went on i told him he would drop dead before i changed my mind.  none the less i did change my mind about 4 days later when i went back to freaking out about being cut open while being awake and that big ass needle going into my spine.  so i went back at my next appt 2 days later and told him that i had changed my mind. that i no longer wanted a c section that i wanted to be induced with him that way i would have my baby with him and i wouldn't have to do it alone. He agreed as i again told him i would not leave his front yard till i popped the baby out. But lucky for Doctor Dovre i never sat in his front yard demanding things nor did he deliver my son cause i went into labor early and without him.

Dr. Edwards also talked to me about how i wished to have the baby i said i wanted to do an all natural birth again with no pain meds. He said that was strange cause there was another girl that was just in the day before that was also from Wisconsin and she also wanted to do a natural birth without pain meds. I told him us northerners have a great pain tolerance. He laughed. I then told him that i was scared to death of the needle and that i would rather have my right arm cut off then have to have that needle shoved in my spine.

So over all i am very happy with my Clinic so far we shall see as time goes on what i think more later on.

  1. Are you using TriCare or do you have private insurance? When I was married we used Tricare and they covered nothing.
